Extractions: I was a kid when World War II was playing havoc with life everywhere. At night, we used to huddle around the radio, hoping that the war would be over. I read everything I could find, and I know Bonnie Toews spent months in deep research. She learned about the complexities of the political, scientific, strategic and armed forces structures and reveals this truth through her amazing ability to tell the story. The people are not characters, they become real, and you care about them. The treason is a maze, but only when you have finished the book can you go back and see all of the clues that were so artfully woven it. As the world again faces war, this book is a "must read" in the hope that atrocities such as these will never be repeated. 5 Stars!

DURHAM - Out of adversity can come accomplishment. And so it is for Bonnie Toews, first-time published novelist whose life could easily have taken a downward turn. "In my 40s, I actually had a heart attack," says the candid 61-year-old from her Newcastle home. "It was the kind that also affected the blood flow to the brain causing a slight aphasia." This frightening event would have been devastating for anybody. But when it hit the career woman whose advertising job depended on the spoken word, Mrs. Toews had to make some changes. Although it was difficult to come up with the words she wanted to say verbally, when she wrote them down and checked the dictionary, she was delighted to find she was right. She then started doing exercises using a thesaurus.

Deviant Minds Treason Triumph ~Review by Victoria Tarrani~. Author bonnie toewsISBN 0969796714. This book is a pageturner. bonnie toews reveals http://www.horrorseek.com/horror/deviantminds/treason.html
Extractions: ISBN: 0969796714 This book is a page-turner. Bonnie Toews reveals beauty of love and friendship and the unimaginable horror that was reality of WWII as if she lived through it. Her style is excellent and the research is powerful. As in any great book, characters change according to their experiences in an ever escalating war and the aftermath of its destruction. Kristallnacht (November 9, 1938) would more appropriately have been named The Night Satan Broke out of Hell to Feast upon the Innocent. It was the night the Nazis coordinated an attack on Jewish people and their property in Germany and German-controlled lands. To see what happens to a baby, in front of his parents, is a shocking scene that does not leave your mind. Knowing this is only one incident that actually happened to a group of people who were assaulted because of their religion is a terrible reminder that we are doomed to repeat history if we, the people of the world, do not learn from the past. War is not something that happens to someone else; it is visual and painful. Treason and Triumph is one of the best books I have read. Neither my mother nor I could put it aside until this war had ended. Details are revealed through dialogue and visual impact. Your suspicions about the traitor grow just as they do in the cast of characters. Toews descriptions are sharp. The faces and places provide a surrealistic vision as if you are looking through a window or at a collection of photographs.

Several of her children 's stories will be available through the same publishing company later this year. Rita is currently working on a mystery novel set in her hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, with Hungarian author, Alex Domokos. Here is one of her short stories, Whose Little Girl, a mystery with a twist ending. Whose Little Girl Rita Y. Toews The crabs and gulls found her before the kids did so she wasn't a pretty sight. She was lying face down on the shingle of the beach, the tide sucking greedily at her thighs and legs, inviting her back in for another lethal swim. I hoped like hell the runaway I'd been hired to find wasn't this body at my feet. Her close cropped techno-coloured hair and the body piercing told me she was just a kid, so Detective Stuart Granger had done me a favour by tipping me off about a young floater. I guess that meant I owed him one - again. When you're a private investigator it pays to have a former brother-in-law working for the cops.
