AP STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - A young child was screaming in the stands. A gusty wind was making shots react like knuckleballs. And then she was called for a foot fault. Such distractions could unnerve a veteran player, let alone a teen. But Anna Kournikova, whose poise and patience seem to increase with each passing match, ignored them all en route to a 6-4, 6-4 victory Thursday over Mary Joe Fernandez. The victory sent the sixth-seeded Kournikova into the quarterfinals of the $500,000 Bank of the West Classic for a match against second-seeded Venus Williams, a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) winner over former Wimbledon junior champion Katarina Srebotnik.
