The game opened up with St. Priscilla's getting out to an 8-0 lead, however our Tigers once again displayed a season long trait of playing a strong defense and began to mount their comeback. The victory was assured only in the final seconds in front of a large and loud contingent of St. Paul faithful. The boys, coached by Bill Whalen and Joe Donnelly, finished their season with a final record of 15-4. The Championship 6th Grade Boys Gold Basketball Team! Congratulations to the 7th Grade Girls for taking second place in the Mary Seat of Wisdom Holiday Silver Tournament. The girls played in four exciting games that all were decided by 1 point! The girls defeated St. Vincent Ferrar as well as Mary Seat along the way to earn a berth in the championship game. In the final game, Our Lady of Ransom hit a free throw with less than 10 seconds remaining to clinch the victory. Seventh Grade Girls Basketball Team!

Extractions: Ballynanty 1 A GOAL from Pat Keane after 20 minutes was all the separated two excellent sides at the end of an enthralling Munster Junior Cup game played at Rathuard. though winning in the end, Ballynanty will be first to admit that the 'Dines left this one behind them for they created, and fluffed, several clear-cut chances. Geraldines, however, know they weren't going to win the Munster Junior Cup so will take tremendous heart from this game. Their performed every bit as good as their premier league opponents and they know that on another day they might have got one or two goals for their efforts. Ballynanty, for their part, had to work extremely hard to secure their second round ticket. They defended superbly throughout the 90 minutes and that the 'Dines didn't get on the score sheet can be down to a solid rearguard in which keeper Brian Fitzgerald was outstanding as were defenders Jason O'Connell, Robert McCarthy and James Houlihan while Martin Reddan rarely put a foot wrong. The game attracted the biggest crowd of the weekend and the fans certainly weren't disappointed for they were treated to 90 minutes of honest endeavour. Geraldines will be hoping that John Foley, formerly of Fairview, will come on stream pretty quickly for he is a solid performer, quick and decisive and a player that will fit in well to Geraldines style of play.
