With his reputation in tatters after testing positive for cocaine, he is unemployed and surely few clubs would be tempted to sign him. When he failed the drugs tests back in November Chelsea suspended him, and last month they decided to sack him, claiming that he had broken the terms of his contract: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm that notice has been served on goalkeeper Mark Bosnich that his contract is being terminated under the terms of the FA Premier League," read a statement. Bosnich claimed that he had failed the test because someone had spiked his drink, and his lawyer told him that Chelsea might have acted improperly in sacking him, so Bosnich decided to appeal against it to the Premier League. However they have rejected it: "In the matter of the appeal from Mark Bosnich against the notice to terminate his contract issued by Chelsea FC, the board of the Premier League have found in favour of the club," a Premier League statement said. The keeper can now appeal to the Football League, but could well decide that it is not worth the trouble after the failure of this one. He will have to turn his attentions to an upcoming Football Association disciplinary hearing into his positive drugs test, which could see him given a 12 months worldwide ban.
