He is the 1994 Olympic champion and a Honoured Masters of Sports of Russian Federation. Career Urmanov was born in Leningrad, Soviet Union, and competed for the Soviet Union internationally. He started skating at the age of 4. He won the silver medal at the 1990 World Junior Figure Skating Championships for that country.
