The Hockey Players Corporation :: Exclusive News BY John Kreiser April 24, 2002 To watch steve webb at his webb played just 1009in Game 3 of the first graduate of what's now the United hockey League to http://www.hockeycorp.com/summernews/02-04-24-a.html
Extractions: Webb played just 10:09 in Game 3 of the New York Islanders' 6-1 victory over Toronto in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. He had no goals, no assists, one harmless shot on goal, and was plus-one. It was his bumper car-like style of play that earned him the game's No. 1 star-and the accolades of his coach. Actually, Webb was credited with 11 hits-an astonishing total given his limited ice time. At times, it seemed like Webb was all over the ice, bashing into Leafs in the neutral zone, rubbing them out along the wall in the offensive zone, and leaving blue sweaters strewn in his wake wherever he went.
The Hockey Players Corporation :: Exclusive News It's a bus leaguehockey's equivalent of the low minors in baseball, without muchin the way of dreams of upward mobility. steve webb knows what the UHL is like http://www.hockeycorp.com/summernews/02-04-15-a.html
Extractions: The New York Islanders, seeking a forward with some muscle, took him off the buses in the fall of 1996 and basically gave him on-the-job training in the NHL. Webb, then a 21-year-old free agent scrapper playing for the Muskegon Fury, learned there was more to playing hockey than fighting-although that was his original function; he picked up 21 fighting majors in 41 games in 1996-97. In the succeeding seasons, though, Webb has become a useful NHL player. His skating has improved, as has his hockey sense. He'll never be an offensive force, but he's become a master at getting under opponents' skin, goading them into penalties without taking one himself. On the ice, he and linemates Claude Lapointe and Jason Blake have formed an effective fourth unit for the Isles and played a small but vital role into New York's first trip to the playoffs since 1994. Webb's best season as a pro was capped prior to Sunday's season finale, when he was voted by Isles fans as the recipient of the Bob Nystrom Trophy for his work ethic and perseverance. Nystrom, like Webb, basically made himself into an NHL player-one who eventually scored the overtime Cup-winner than started the Isles' dynasty in the 1980s.

This is a listing of all previous hockey games. 6/20/98's Roster This week's Three Stars Dereyk Webb = goals, assists Russel Bailey = goals, assists Matt Murphy = goals, assists Dereyk Webb's amazing 10 goals were not enough to overpower his opponents. Led by Russel "Smooth Like" Bailey's 11 points, the MacDonald clan strove to victory. Early in the second game Tom MacDonald (points leader, at 128) was injured in an incident in which he fell into the Asuwa River. While retrieving a ball errantly shot to the river's edge, MacDonald fell, cutting his hand on the cement embankment. After considerable deliberation (and loss of blood), it was decided that the game must go on. A towel was wrapped around the hand of MacDonald and he struggled bravely to victory with one hand on his stick. In an unrelated incident Jarrod Ward (P122,G86,A36) in a centering attempt, viciously whacked Matt Murphy (G83) leaving a golf ball size welt on Murphy's shin. Assist Wizard, Derek Dirom (A38), made an accute insight when he remarked at the increase in injuries since we began keeping stats...
