Extractions: AMHERST, Mass. - A season-high 6,392 fans saw UMass outshoot Boston University, 25-19, but fail to get anything going offensively, as the Minutemen dropped their fourth straight game, 2-0, on Friday night at the Mullins Center. UMass drops to 14-14-1 overall and 8-12-0 in Hockey East heading into Saturday's tilt with UMass Lowell at the Mullins Center. The third-largest crowd in school history opened the game on its feet, but Boston University quieted it quickey. BU took full advantage of the game's first power play, scoring at the 5:12 mark of the first period. John Sabo was stopped from point-blank range, but Brian Collins picked up the loose puck in front of UMass goalie Gabe Winer (Stoughton, Mass.), and was stopped once, but slid home a shot weak-side off his own rebound for his seventh goal of the year.

Feature Articles Lord Stanley of Preston - by Keith Lenn Occasionally the single act of a person, however trivial or insignificant that act may seem at the time, has a profound effect on the future, be it in politics, the arts, literature, or even in the world of sports. When Lord Stanley of Preston, the sixth Governor General of Canada and an advocate of close ties between Britain and its colonies, jotted down a message for Lord Kilcoursie, Lord Stanley's aide and a member of Ottawa's Rideau Rebels hockey team, to read at a celebratory dinner held on March 18, 1892 for the Ottawa Amateur Athletic Association, a new chapter in sports history was begun.
