Extractions: Bruce Bennett Studios) Click here to check out our updated Bruins Prospects Depth Chart (including this season's draft picks) Dan McGillis always liked the Boston Bruins when he was growing up and playing minor hockey in the province of Ontario. For McGillis however, it was the Bruins he was drawn to, mainly because of Bobby Orr, but also because they epitomized that bruising but skilled style and never-say-die attitude that meant that even though they came out on the short end of their championship aspirations, they always went down fighting. Instead of taking the traditional route of most of his hockey contemporaries and skating for the Sudbury Wolves, Oshawa Generals or Kingston Frontenacs, McGillis accepted a scholarship to Northeastern University, and spent four years in the city whose professional hockey team he rooted for as a youngster.

Sudden Impact On The Ice The most important ingredient on his squad, burly defenseman dan mcgillis, againresisted the lure of pro hockey to pull on the Husky sweater for another season http://www.voice.neu.edu/951207/mcgillis.html
Extractions: By Michael Keegan While administrators were disappointed by student retention figures this year, men's hockey coach Ben Smith had a different take on the situation. The most important ingredient on his squad, burly defenseman Dan McGillis, again resisted the lure of pro hockey to pull on the Husky sweater for another season. "It's been a concern for the past couple of years," Smith acknowledged. "Dan has probably been the most professional-type defenseman in Hockey East. A lot of people were expecting him to leave." McGillis, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound senior who was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 1992, has earned a reputation as one of the most talented and feared defensemen in the country. Known for his intimidating physical play, his presence on the ice rarely goes unnoticed by the opposition. "Other players are always looking over their shoulders - it can take a lot of guys out of their game," Smith said. "I think that everybody understands who number 3 is for Northeastern." But McGillis, a native of Hawkesbury, Ontario, is much more than an enforcer. With finesse, speed and stick-handling ability, he is one of the Huskies' most complete all-around players. Through 12 games this season, he's racked up one goal and seven assists.
