Extractions: Associated Press DULUTH, Ga. The Atlanta Thrashers made three deals before the NHL trade deadline Tuesday, sending defenseman Jiri Slegr to Detroit, center Bob Corkum to Buffalo and minor-league defenseman Darcy Hordichuk to Phoenix. General manager Don Waddell had no plans to trade Hordichuk, who's split time between Atlanta and the Thrashers' AHL affiliate in Chicago this season. But when the Coyotes called about 15 minutes before the trade deadline, Waddell quickly asked for two players Atlanta considered to be the top prospects - forward Ruslan Zainullin and defenseman Kirill Safronov - in the Phoenix organization.

And now, the NEWS Well, now, I thought that the Atlanta management, coming from the Detroit organization would have a good idea as to how to pick an expansion team. Well, I thought wrong. As bad as Nashville was last year, this team is going to be a disaster, unless they can make some (meaning many) moves to change around some players. Sure, the goaltending tandem of Damien Rhodes and Norm Maracle is nice, but as the expansion draft analysis will show you, the Thrashers will challenge Washington's record of 8 wins in a season. All Players are rated on a ten point scale from 1 (Enrico Ciccone) to 10 (Peter Forsberg). Like last year, there are no 10's on this list.
