Extractions: "I am very pleased that Dave Burkholder has agreed to accept the post of head coach of our men's hockey team" said the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., President of Niagara University. "Dave will provide a seamless transition into this new era of Niagara hockey because he is already one of us. He knows the program, having played a key role in its development, first as an assistant coach and more recently as the associate coach. He knows the players because he has recruited many of them. And he shares in our desire to maintain a quality program that will continue to compete at the highest levels of collegiate hockey. We welcome Dave in this new role and wish him well." "David has been with our program since its inception and has played a major role in developing the culture of the team", said Athletic Director, Mike Hermann. "With a great deal of confidence, we are pleased to turn the men's hockey program over to him. It became clear during the search process that Dave has been prepared for this opportunity, not just over the last five years, but throughout his hockey life. Blaise MacDonald did a lot of terrific things as our head hockey coach, but one of his best may have been selecting Dave to be on his coaching staff five years ago."

TheFeeder.com - Inside Sharks Hockey face. greg devries also took a puck in the face to open up a nice cut.* The win was Colorados fifth straight at Compaq Center. http://www.thefeeder.com/story/02-0328-01.htm
Extractions: The Sharks were 20 minutes from grabbing the second seed in the Western Conference on Thursday night, but two 3rd period gaffs cost them the win as the Colorado Avalanche came back in the final period for a 3-2 win at Compaq Center. Defenseman Bryan Marchment made two costly errors that resulted in a pair of 3rd period goals, allowing the Avalanche to steal the win. Brad Larsen scored his 1st NHL goal with seven seconds remaining on a Mark Smith penalty after Marcus Ragnarsson both botched a clearing chance deep in the Sharks zone. With the puck rattling around the right corner, Ragnarsson tried to fire the puck up the left wing boards, but the puck bounced off a Colorado player towards the slot. Rathje had a chance to swat the puck out, but he fanned on it, allowing Larsen to put the puck past Evgeni Nabokov.
TheFeeder.com - Inside Sharks Hockey to recapture the lead at 32. San Jose only had two men back as Forsberg carriedthe puck into the Sharks zone with greg devries and Sakic on his right wing. http://www.thefeeder.com/story/02-0511-01.htm
Extractions: Sharks goaltender Evgeni Nabokov kept the Sharks close in the 1st period with two huge saves. The Sharks goaltender made a glove save on a Milan Hejduk shot from just outside the right post and then snuffed Avalanche captain Joe Sakic on a breakaway attempt midway through the period. On the Sakic scoring chance, Nabokov took away the angle by stacking his pads across the top of the crease. Sakic tried to lift the puck over Nabokov, but his shot hit the Sharks goaltender in the chest. The puck trickled back into the slot but Sakic's momentum denied a decent rebound chance. San Jose opened the scoring when Marco Sturm made a spectacular play right in front of Patrick Roy. Vincent Damphousse threw the puck on net from deep in the right corner, and Sturm redirected it past Roy while crashing the net. Sturm knocked the puck out of the air to give the Sharks the first lead of the game.
