Nov. 19, 2002 ITHACA, N.Y. - Junior forwards Carissa Mirasol (Fairfax, Va.) and Lindsay Grace (Ardmore, Pa.) were named to the 2002 STX/NFHCA Mideast Region first team, while junior Kimmy Gardner (Paoli, Pa.) and senior Sarah Rosenbaum (Chevy Chase, Md.), both defenders, earned second-team honors. This is the first time in program history that two players have been selected to the regional first team. Mirasol joins Karla Griffin '87 as the only two Cornell players in program history to earn regional All-America first-team honors twice. This is the first all-region selection for Grace, Gardner and Rosenbaum. Gardner, Grace and Mirasol all tied for the team-lead in points for the season with 17. Gardner led the team with seven goals and also added three assists, while Mirasol was the Big Red's leader in assists with nine and also notched four goals. In addition to seven assists, Grace tallied five goals, including a pair of game-winners.

The men began and ended the day in second with 866 points and the women moved up one spot and finished fourth with 382 points. Senior Chase Kelly (Littleton, Colo.) led the Pioneers with a brilliant performance in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing first with a time of 1:58.41. Kelly also helped Denver earn points by leading the 800-yard freestyle relay team to a second place finish (7:20.12) and the 200-yard medley relay team to a third place finish (1:39.13).
