At the age of 9 years old, Rony Seikaly moved from Beirut where he attended his elementary school at the Athenee de Beirut in Lebanon to Greece, where he was raised. He attended the American Community School, or ACS Athens. Prior to learning basketball he was a soccer player and great track athlete. He is a naturalized American citizen. In 1984, he began attending Syracuse University in upstate New York. His writings have also been featured in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The New Republic, The National Interest, Foreign Affairs and The Wall Street Journal, among other newspapers and publications, and his more controversial essays about the nature of U.S. power have spurred debate in academia, the media, and the highest levels of government.
