His appointment was announced on Friday (March 12). Gonzalez spent the last six years as an assistant coach with Virginia head coach Pete Gillen. He was an assistant with Gillen for one year at Xavier University and for four years at Providence College before coming to Virginia. After playing two years of junior college basketball at Broome Community College, Gonzalez moved on to Buffalo State University. At Buffalo State he helped the team earn the number one ranking in Division III as a junior. He served as team captain his senior year. Souksangouane Phengsene, 43, was charged Wednesday with three counts of vehicular homicide in connection with the May 20 incident. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Hennepin County District Court Thursday. "We charged the defendant because he caused the death of Malik Sealy as a result of driving the wrong way and driving with a blood-alcohol concentration almost twice the legal limit," Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar said. Phengsene is charged under three separate provisions of the state's criminal vehicular homicide law: driving in a grossly negligent manner, driving in a negligent manner while under the influence of alcohol and driving with an alcohol concentration of .10 or greater. Test results showed that Phengsene had a blood-alcohol level of .19 at the time of the crash, nearly double the legal limit of .10. Sealy's blood-alcohol level was .08, Klobuchar said.

At the All-Star game there was a slam dunk and a three point shooting contest at Rucker Park on 155th sreet and 8th Ave. Over two hundred people came to cheer on the young contestants. Security was tight throughout the park. The security company used was "Up and Arms Security" who also worked for a spy shop run in Brooklyn, "Tec-One" spy shop. The store is found in the Brooklyn Mall and has been there for about a year and a half. The Up and Arms Security has worked for Rucker since 1994-1995. For the Slam dunk contest, a contestant named Hollywood, did cart wheels then slam dunk the ball into the net. Another contestant named Smiley, did various Slam dunk stunts. He and Hollywood were the best contestants. Hollywood had a hard time getting the ball into the net, but he kept trying . You could tell he did a lot of practicing. In the end, Smiley came in first place and Hollywood came in second. Smiley was not availible for an interview. Hollywood and Smiley both won Black and Silver Rucker gear. But it was the first place Rucker winner, Smiley, who won a year's worth of Rucker gear in black and silver, colors only worn by family and close friends.
