Extractions: A.C. GREEN IS 36 AND ABSTINATE Matthias r. Monschein As a member of the Lakers, Suns, Mavericks and most recently the Miami Heat, Green continues to add to his NBA record of consecutive games played which, as of this article, stands at 1,122 games in a row. As Green's career enters into its 15th season, he currently holds the fifth longest, all-time, consecutive games played streak in the history of four professional sports in North America. That list is lead by Major League Baseball's legendary Cal Ripken. A.C. has built a reputation in the professional sports world as being a man of integrity and intensity both on and off the basketball court. The type of lifestyle that he leads is a testimony to his belief in Jesus and his walk with the Lord. This gentleman who is better known for his fast breaks and defensive rebounding has a stronger passion for helping the young people of America through his Los Angeles-based A.C. Green Foundation. The program provides today's kids the chance to learn the principles of leading a godly life through sexual abstinence, discipline and education. I can tell you from talking with him that this man does practice what he preaches. At 36, and single, he plans to maintain his life of abstinence up until the day he is married.

Some of his most recent accomplishments are being a member of the 2000 Lakers championship team, and starting in all six games of last seasons finals, plus his Iron Man title for appearing in 1,054 consecutive games. But what really distinguishes him from all the rest is his love for Jesus Christ and for others. I firmly believe that my position as an NBA star is a platform from which to be heard, and a vehicle to help young people, says Green. Along with basketball, he enjoys bowling, baseball, golf and eating frozen yogurt. My passions go far beyond professional basketball, says Green. One area that A.C. is particularly passionate about is abstinence. Watch the games, and you may see him carrying a green teddy bear, or see the bear sitting on the sidelines. This is the AC (Abstinence Committed) Bear. With the initials A.C. on the front, and his foundations colorful Ive Got The Power abstinence logo on the back, the bear is just one of many ways that A.C. Green uses to tell people that saving sex for marriage is the way to go. By the way, the initials A.C., like his fathers, do not stand for full nameshis name is simply A.C. Green Jr.

Chasity Events - Faithful On And Off The Court By A.C. Green Faithful on and off the Court by ac green. ac green has long been one of themost talented and enduring power forwards in professional basketball. http://www.vitalsignsministries.org/vsmacgreen.html
Extractions: by A. C. Green A. C. Green has long been one of the most talented and enduring power forwards in professional basketball. In fact, he holds the NBA record for most consecutive games played. A. C. is also founder and president of A. C. Green Programs for Youth. This testimony originally appeared in Decision Magazine , a publication of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. When I was in my senior year of high school, people thought that I had everything. My parents had just bought me a car; I had received a four-year scholarship to Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon; my high school team had won the state basketball championship; I was the player of the year in Oregon, and I was on the All-American team. As a 17-year-old I had everything going my way, but I felt empty inside. Until I became a freshman in high school, I attended church regularly. I thought that if I was a good person and better than the friends I hung around with, I was assured to go to heaven. But during high school my parents left to me the decision about my attending church. I decided that it was not "cool" to go to church, so I went only occasionally.

Extractions: Final Thoughts Devotion: The week's devotion is from Ecclesiastes 9:10-"Whatsoever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither you go." "The mowing of the grass can wait another day, let's go to the beach. The weather is just fantastic, how going to play a round of golf. The boss won't mind. All of this book learning is for the birds. How about playing Nintendo for the rest of the afternoon". All of these are excuses for procrastinating and not doing the work that we know needs to get done. We all do it, at one time or another. We would rather be resting or playing instead of doing the chores or the job that is needful to get done. We look with awe at the people that never take a day off from work or that also seems so busy. We also know people that may be at work everyday but never seem to get anything done. Sure, they are at work, but other people do their job more efficiently. We have all met that kind of person Their attitude is that they are just there to collect a paycheck, to do their 8 hours and go home. The Bible says that whatever job we find to do , we are to do with all of our might. In other verses, the Bible says that we are to do all jobs and chores as if we are doing them for the Lord. That would mean to do the best of our ability and in the quickest possible time. We can't do our job if we are not there or if we are relaxing some place else. The Lord is always providing time for us to rest and to enjoy life as it is, but we are also expected to do the work that is set out before us.
