Extractions: MIAMI HEAT vs. NEW YORK KNICKS - 77-76 (2-1) May 12, 2000 PJ BROWN Q. A finish like that, have you ever been through a finish like that? PJ BROWN: I just think that is something we concentrated on in practice. Something that the coach stressed. Our two guys, they needed to see some guys focused, concentrated, came out, we were aggressive and made plays; just didn't sit around and look at the other guys make plays. I thought that was a big key for us tonight. Q. When Mourning went out with those 4 fouls seemed like you stepped forward? PJ BROWN: Yeah, I just they probably thought this is our chance to really get those guys. I think they kind of relaxed and I just kind of said, hey, we are not going out like that; we are going to fight and we are going to fight to the end and took a couple of shots and was feeling good and I am glad I helped contribute to the win. Q. Any one thing you can point to tonight that was the difference? PJ BROWN: I just thought we hustled a lot harder. Our transition game was a lot better. I rebounding second chance points, I think we (inaudible) usually a team that does beat the other one in those type of areas usually win the game. I think that is what happened to us tonight.

Extractions: HORNETS How serious is Jamal Mashburns viral illness with mild anemia and a vitamin B-12 deficiency? Its hard to know for sure, as team officials have been guarded in releasing information about his condition. On Thursday after the teams fourth straight practice session without its leading scorer Mashburn was reportedly released from the hospital. The team is hopeful hell play in Saturdays playoff game at Orlando. So what are fans to believe? If history is an indicator, its easy to be skeptical of anything the team says about injury or illness involving its players. After all, Mashburns condition would not be the first where team officials were either less than forthcoming or the injury report changed over the course of time. In the last eight seasons, there have been at least 19 such instances.
