Product Description

The Bambino . . . The Sultan of Swat . . . The Colossus of Clout . . . Babe Ruth is widely regarded as the #1 baseball player of all time. His contribution to the sport simply can’t be overstated: Largely responsible for bringing baseball to its current level of popularity, Ruth changed the game from a low-scoring, speed-dominated sport to the high-scoring, power-hitting baseball we see today. Larger than life in his own time, the Babe continues to be a legendary figure in ours.

Babe Ruth is the ultimate book for any true baseball fan, telling the story of his groundbreaking career as well as memorable tales from his often-colorful life off the field. Featuring a winning line-up of rare and never-before-published photographs, the book also includes pull-out facsimile reproductions of memorabilia such as World Series tickets from 1916 to 1932; newspaper articles chronicling the Babe’s record-breaking achievements; the official souvenir program from opening day at Yankee Stadium in 1923; and Babe Ruth’s first professional baseball contract.

A glorious memento of an incredible career, Babe Ruth is a fitting tribute to one of the 20th century’s towering personalities.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Bargain For Baseball Fans
What a steal! This loving tribute to the greatest baseball of all time (and that's objective, since I'm a lifelong Cardinals fan) is a must-have for anyone who loves the history. The photographs and memorabilia are worth the full price of the book alone. These photos are on glossy, thick pages and and are so sharp you'd think they were taken yesterday.

Yeah, the "memorabilia" are just reproductions, but so what? It's great fun to examine scorecards from a few World Series games, look at various tickets to the games, see what an old-time contract looks like, have an autographed team picture or two, etc. - Great stuff!

Ruth was a rough character but the pictures in here with the Bambino and family and admiring young fans are just fantastic. He was a simple, yet complex man, if that makes sense.

This book is well worth the $30 retail price but it's going for one-third of that here and one-third of that at Barnes & Noble.Considering all you get, and the classy presentation, this is one of the better "bargain books" you'll ever see.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Home Run (Naturally)
This collection of Babe Ruth memories, compliments of Babe's daughter, Julia Ruth Stevens, is a wonderul tribute to the game's greatest player. It's refreshing to read a piece of baseball lore which deals strictly with the incredible accomplishments of this legendary player, leaving the present-day negativity behind.

For those, like myself, who love the game in its purest form, this walk down memory lane is like taking a vacation to baseball paradise. ... Read more
