AFBL With the first pick in the 2002 draft, the Endzone Animals have until February to decide who they'll try to rebuild the franchise around or if they'll trade down for quantity over quality. A high draft pick is nothing new for Philadelphia, which has lost 90 or more games every year of its existence: They've had five top-five picks in the last four years, taking Scott Rolen, J.D. Drew, Brian Jordan, Todd Ritchie and Jeff D'Amico. Only the first two are still with the team.

Seven Of Baseball's Greats Go Unnoticed in baseball, which also features Garret Anderson and Tim Salmon. Jim Edmonds isprobably the most underappreciated player in the game today. rusty greer, OF http://dailybeacon.utk.edu/issues/v75/n7/baseball.7s.html
Extractions: While most of the attention in baseball is focused on the mega-superstars such as Ken Griffey, Jr. and Barry Bonds, the sport features many outstanding players who do not receive the credit they deserve. While the Griffeys and the Roger Clemenses of the world are the huge gate attractions, here are seven of baseball's truly underrated players, whose accomplishments and abilities are often under-appreciated: Jim Edmonds, OF, Anaheim: Edmonds' enormous 1995 season was followed by an injury-filled 1996, which saw the Angels plummet from division favorites to the AL West cellar. Edmonds is currently playing with slightly torn knee cartilage, yet continues to put up excellent numbers. As of mid-June, he was hitting .322 with 12 home runs and 45 RBI. Edmonds is also an electrifying center fielder, and made a catch earlier in the year which will be seen for many years on the highlight reels. Edmonds also is one of the headliners of the best outfield in baseball, which also features Garret Anderson and Tim Salmon. Jim Edmonds is probably the most under-appreciated player in the game today.
