A book of photography
Photographer Laura Wilson does a superb job of capturing the emotion and heart of small-town Texas football.In no way a novel, this book is a photographic album.

On fall Friday nights, as the sun descends below the Western horizon, bleachers fill in cities and small towns across the nation. A ritual played out under bright lights will help define the lives of those gathered and will teach the boys who play about competition, honor, hard work, defeat and victory. Communities are galvanized by the struggle for victory on playing fields throughout the American heartland. Football is the number one topic of conversation. Community spirit and pride are strong. The game is a contest among players, but it also symbolizes the fans' desires to cling to their own youthful enthusiasms.

Six-Man Football is the exotic variant for towns too sparsely populated to field an 11-man team. In this fast-moving game, with fewer players who play offense and defense, six-man football becomes a wide open game full of razzle-dazzle plays. The rules are slightly different. Each player is eligible to catch passes. The teams compete on a field a little shorter at 80 yards and a little narrower at 40 yards than that of conventional football. With 12 players, fans can easily see the hard-hitting action and the tremendous effort of boys who often play both offense and defense. Mercy is built into the game. There is a "slaughter rule," which stops the game the moment one team's lead extends to 45 or more points, during the second half. Pride in the team's fortunes unites the entire community. One can see the support in store windows, on car windshields and on the local hamburger marquee. The six boys on the field and their eager back-ups on the bench know that with each snap of the ball their school, their families and their town are willing them to victory. Such is the import -- and joy! -- of Six-Man Football.

Laura Wilson, photographer and author, documents Six-Man Football with 90 black and white photographs. Troy Aikman contributes the foreword.

A Great book About a Great Man
This book is what Troy Aikman is about he lets the reader into his personal life a little bit.You see the person Troy first than the football player. After you read this book you become a bigger fan of his than beforand if you were not a fan than you become one. The pictures are great aswell as the text. I really enjoyed it and I know you will too. Must buy!

Good book with a lot of info and pictures
Great book that really tells the whole story.Although you can find most of this info. in other scattered places, it's all nicely put into this book.There are many INCREDIBLE photos of Troy, so if you're a fan, orjust think he's gorgeous (or both), this is a great book.

Troy Aikman really draws the reader to him.His gracefully written book truely defines the Aikman as the true champion that he is. He is a man whoovercame a lot of odds to reach the success he now has achieved.His storygives everyone reassurance that hardwork will bring success.

I really didn't find any new information that I hadn't read before about Troy.It lacked something of value and certainly not worth the money unless you are really a huge Troy Aikman fan.The book went immediatly inmy garage sale and of course I had to continue marking down the price toget it bought. 2.00.

Great Book!
Things Change gives a very worthwhile message to readers by showing how life will not always predictable and you must adjust.It also shows the rewards of never giving up.The bottom line is that this is a quality book by a Hall of Fame quarterback.

I thought this book was worth reading.This book is about aguy that plays football for the Dallas Cowboys.This book is about his whole life,from when he was a little kid and until now. I would recommend this book for others to read because you can relate his life to your life.I liked it and i hope you will read it and like it too.

A great gift for kids
Greg Brown has started a wonderful series, I've bought several for our grandson, who definitely needs to learn to be a better sport!! It isn't just the specific athlete, but the lessons they teach in these books, thatmake them attractive to me. But it is the athlete on the cover that makesthe boy want to read them. Also, these books are something that"Dad", a sports fan,actually enjoys reading to son. I highlyrecommend any book in this series.

Great Advice for All
I think this is a great book for all to read. It is an especially good book for all children that look up to Mr. Aikman.

By recounting events in his childhood, he teaches us all that, no matter what obstacles are put in our path, we can achieve greatness. Not by becoming famous; but, by becoming a great human being.

This book also shows adults how, by taking and active role in the lives of our children, we can greatly influence the kind of human being they will one day become.

I have purchased 10+ copies of this book.Whenever someone has a baby, they get this book as part of the baby gift.The lesson we all learn is the greatest gift anyone can receive from any literature and I am an avid reader.In fact, I will be purchasing another copy for a friend who has a brother in his mid-thirties who is austitic, but can read children's books.We should all live by Mr. Aikman's words. ...
