Extractions: by: Greg Kellogg Ever have a perfect day? You know, one where nothing goes wrong, or even if something does, the day is so perfect you just don't care. I have. In fact, I have had a few. The day I asked my Father-in-law for his baby's hand in marriage and he said yes. The day my first child was born. And one this month. I woke up excited. You see I was going to the game. The Falcons were playing the Rams and I was going to be there. I got up early and checked my e-mail (hey, I can't totally ignore my responsibilities), had breakfast and then got cleaned up and ready for the day. The sun seemed to be shining a little brighter than it normally does. There was a hint of a chill in the air. But it was so crisp. You know, like one of those days after a rain where there's not a hint of haze and everything looks so clear you think it must be a photograph. I was on the road headed for Atlanta and it was a perfect day for football. I arrived at the Georgia Dome at 11 AM and thought to myself that it was a shame the game was indoors on a day like today. I made my way past all the fans that were out doing that tailgate thing. My pass was waiting at the "Will Call" window. I picked it up and headed for the field. I was surprised by the thickness of the carpet in the dome. I'm sure it would not be pleasant to be slammed down on it, but it was much softer than I had expected. The players were coming out individually to do their personal pregame rituals. Not many had made it to the field. At one tunnel, Defensive Back Chris Bayne was signing autographs for some kids. Chris actually looked as if he enjoyed this. Unlike some this was not a chore, but a benefit to him.

Among the strangest things I've ever seen were the storm clouds in the sky that night (they looked like miles and miles of cotton balls all lined up, row by row). After the rain let up, Garland rallied to tie the game. I think they had been down 28-14 and 35-21 late in the fourth quarter. Who was the featured player on that DeSoto team? None other than current NFL running back and ex-Texas Tech Red Raider athlete (not student-athlete) Byron Hanspard. Notorious Graduates: Byron Hanspard - Texas Tech running back for several years, took the "student" out of "student-athlete" by getting a 0.0 GPA at least one semester, NFL rookie in 1997 with the Atlanta Falcons, missed the 1998 NFL season due to injury

Fantasy Football Report Chrebet could make a full return as early as next Sunday Ken Oxendine willreplace byron hanspard as the Falcons' starting back. INJURY REPORT. http://www.fantasyfootballreport.com/private/week5d.html
Extractions: Notes LEAGUE NOTES With Chris Chandler already out with a hamstring, the Falcons lost Tony Graziani to a concussion in last week's game against the Ravens. Danny Kanell finished the game and will start this week against New Orleans... The revolving door at quarterback continues for the Bengals who will go back to Akili Smith in their game against the Browns this week. The game will match the #1 and #3 picks in the draft as Tim Couch will start for the Browns... The 49ers still won't say who will be under center against the Rams this Sunday, but all signs point to Jeff Garcia. In Wednesday's practice, Garcia took all but one of the snaps... Jim Harbaugh will remain the starting quarterback for the Chargers this week, despite the fact he will be playing with a severely bruised passing elbow and two cracked ribs... If you're deciding between starting James Stewart or Fred Taylor again this week, go with Stewart. Taylor reinjured his hamstring last week and may get the week off...
