Comments For DA MAYOR - The UnOfficial Willie Brown I''m only 16 and I live in Indy, I''m black, a play football and run track and I''min student gov, speech team, and I I think that willie brown is a cool guy. http://www.greenspun.com/com/zpub/sf/damayor/
Extractions: on DA MAYOR - The unOfficial Willie Brown (made possible by Loquacious Concerning Da Mayor''s absurd comments on the Sprewell assault of his coach: If Da Mayor and Mr. Sprewell had deigned to attend basic training at USMCRD, they''d really know what verbal harrassment and humiliation means. But Willie was apparently too busy avoiding the draft back in the Korean War or he couldn''t meet the height requirementsprobably the latter. I really think that Willie would have cut a dashing though small figure in "Marine greens." Contributed by Robert R Jordan ( RJUSMC51@aol.com ) on December 5, 1997. DA MAYORS ONLY CONCERN IS HIMSELF. I WOULD THINK HE DOES NOT GIVE A DAMM ABOUT SPREEWELL THIS IS JUST ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY FOR HIM TO GET HIS FACE IN THE PAPERS.THE MAN IS A POMPOUS ASS. Contributed by John P. ( DRHINO@webtv.net ) on December 5, 1997. While Sprewell''s behavior certainly did not work in his favor, I wonder why no one is asking questions about the coach''s behavior. An earlier post refers to basic training harrassment...I would like to refer that poster to the Supreme Court''s decades old finding that the user of "fighting words" is not protected by the shield of freedom of speech. It seems the user is not protected from getting his big mouth shut either. I think we all know that Sprewell could have done a great deal worse if he was truely out of control. But the coach must have really been off his rocker and oblivious to the damage he was doing. Is it possible that the coach WANTED to push this young man over the brink? What could have been his motive to be so verbally abusive to the degree that someone would want to hit him? And did he have absolutely no idea of Sprewell''s temperment (given his track record) or was he so arrogant and/or out of control that it did not matter at the time?
