Extractions: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers STOMPED the Oakland Raiders in a massive 48-21 VICTORY in Superbowl 37 on January 26, 2003! They have had their best year ever with the leadership of new coach Jon "Chucky" Gruden who faced his former team in the game. I have been a fan of this team and waiting for this opportunity since 1982! The Buccaneers didn't just win, they dominated. Even though the Raiders were favored by a few points the Buccaneers took control of the Raider's #1 offense and barely let them breathe for the entire game. Thank You Bucs! What a game! REVENGE! Here I am with Mike Alstott (right), a locomotive on legs who is now the Buccaneer's all time greatest scorer with 45 touchdowns as of the 2002 season. With (former) linesman Frank Middleton on the left. He's a slightly large gentleman. 6'5" and 360 lbs. BUCCANEERS CENTRAL Team Roster 2002 Schedule Raymond James Stadium ... GREATEST GAME EVER! Extractions: Alstott Gets 'Super' Bowl Ring Former Boilermaker scores touchdown in Tampa Bay's 48-21 win over Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII Jan. 26, 2003 WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Mike Alstott finally will be fitted for a bowl ring ... a Super Bowl ring. The former Purdue All-America fullback (1992-95) and his Tampa Bay Buccaneer teammates won Super Bowl XXXVII 48-21 over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. Alstott rushed for 15 yards on 10 carries, including a 2-yard touchdown plunge that put the Buccaneers ahead 13-3 in the second quarter. He also caught five passes for 43 yards. Purdue went 4-7, 1-10, 5-4-2 and 4-6-1 during Alstott's four seasons, never playing in a bowl game. He is the school's career rushing leader with 3,635 yards.
Fantasy Football Index - Andy Richardson 103002 thinking about how many parallels could be drawn between fantasy football and the MikeAlstott as the Wolf Man The Wolf Man is, of course, two creatures in one http://www.fantasyindex.com/Richardson103002.html
Extractions: Fantasy Index columnist I was considering writing one of those "Mid-Season Awards" fantasy columns, but you know, it's been done. Then I thought, 'tis the season for trick or treating, so what better time to do a "Halloween Tricks or Treats" column than now? Maybe it's the glowing pumpkin on my porch, or maybe it's the copious amounts of wine I drank last night, but I started thinking about how many parallels could be drawn between fantasy football and the fearsome characters of classic horror movies. For example.... Steve Spurrier as Dracula: It's not because his trademark visor is about as passe as Dracula's cape. It's because like the Lord of the Vampires, Spurrier has sucked the life and energy out of a number of potentially starring fantasy players, through his stubborn desire to force his will onto the NFL. Musical QBs are just the most notable offense, but how about inexplicably benching his best wide receiver, Rod Gardner? How about having his rookie QB throw deep on 3rd and 1, rather than giving the ball to star running back Stephen Davis? Two talented players who have all too often been reduced to shambling, undead husks of their former fantasy selves, all due to the soulless vampire at the controls. Paging Dr. Frankenstein to reanimate these guys stat. Priest Holmes as Godzilla: Is that Tokyo getting crushed underneath his gargantuan feet? No, it's just the previously impenetrable run defenses of the Chargers and Broncos, mere child's play for a radiation-created monster of Holmes' power. And give him an easy target like the Patriots' run defense, and watch him turn it into so much rubble without even working up a sweat. Swatting Jets out of the sky, drowning Dolphins in his wake...that's Holmes. Eventually defenses may find a way to turn this brute back to sea, but today he's the fearsome tyrant of fantasy leagues everywhere, and his opponents are so befuddled that, like in every Godzilla movie, their cries of terror don't match the movement of their mouths. Pray he's on your side.
