One of the most interesting and influential photography books
... and I love it.

I purchased one when it first came out, and just bought a second one to keep for a legacy. Watson's images got me interested in photography and his work is still an inspiration.

Great book. If you don't have a copy of it, you have no idea what you are missing.

still and fashion photography re-invented
If you're looking for a book of a photographer who single-mindedly captures fashion, portraiture, landscape and still life flawlessly with his unique style, Albert Watson's Cyclops is the book for you. Included in the book is a brief overview of Watson the man who since birth has had only sight in one eye and has been given the gift of dazzling every other eye known to man. In the interior you can indulge yourself with black and white photographs that can instantly give rise to a feeling of sensuality, pain and pleasure. Whether it be celebrities or artifacts Watson manipulates the subject to create a vision only he can see and we can enjoy and recognize as his signature style. The book is a bit small but beautifully made.

Engrossing.
When I first saw the book, I was transfixed. I must have spent quite a number of hours going through the pages, standing up, the world dissolving around me. My particular favorite is one picture of Gary Oldman lying in a coffin. It captured him perfectly. I don't know much about photography, but the beauty of his works is that it can be understood and loved by anyone - there is a human association within every shot. For a while I was reluctant to buy it - the price was a bit too much for me, but I kept on returning to the bookstore to see it, taking a half an hour bus ride each time at the other side of the city. I grew restless when I didn't take the ritual visit. Eventually I did get it - and I finally feel complete. He captured perfection.

Ultimate Black & White Images
Albert Watson's images in this book are quite simply some of the best images of Black & White photography in any book!They are technically perfect and arrestingly beautiful.His images are powerful, moving,creative, and always well composed.Furthermore, the printing in this bookis one of the best I've ever seen.

If you appriciate masterful black& white images you would probably be happy with this book even if youhad paid 5 times what this costs!

Three Different Versions of This Book
Check before you buy: this book has been printed in 3 different editions. I am writing this review for the one I prefer which has dimensions of 16.6 x 13.5 inches. This is important because it is huge and for a book of nude photos of Pam Anderson this is the way to go. That said, it's also the most expensive version but the printing is incredible and well worth it. The other two versions have dimensions listed at 12.1 x 11.9 inches and 14.2 x 11 inches. Between the three the super-sized version is the way to go in terms of quality.

It's a big book, but not many pictures.
If you're looking for another Sante D'Orazio collection, packed full of images like his last two books ("A Private View" & "Sante D'Orazio: Photographs"), this is not the book for you.What's not mentioned in the editorial review is that this is a companion piece/catalog for a gallery show held last Spring (2005) in New York.It's all about Pam, but in the end, there are 6-7 unique pictures with 3-5 variations on each image. ...
